Hanukkah 5787 · eight nights, one card
Eight Nights of LightHanukkah Ecard for Eight Nights of Light
A papercut menorah that lights one more candle each night. Every flame carries a line or a small gift — and on the eighth night, all the light gathers into your two names.
- 01Each evening at sundown in their time zone, one more candle is ready to light.
- 02A tap and the shamash lights the new candle first, then the rest — just like at home.
- 03On the eighth night every flame rises and gathers into your two names.
Before the first candle
When does each night open?
Each night opens at 6 pm in the recipient’s own time zone, starting on the evening you choose — Friday, December 4 for Hanukkah 2026 — with one more night every evening after that. On Fridays a night opens at 3 pm instead, so it can be lit before Shabbat begins.
What if they miss a night or open the card early?
Missed nights stay open, so they can catch up whenever they’re back. A night that hasn’t arrived yet stays dark and shows when it opens. As the sender, your preview lets you check all eight at once.
Is the menorah drawn the traditional way?
Yes. The hanukkiah has nine branches: eight candles at one height and the shamash set apart, raised in the middle. Each night the shamash is lit first and lights the others — the newest candle first, moving from left to right.
Who can I send it to, and what do I need?
A partner or the whole family — choose one and the example lines change to fit. Write a short line for each night, add an optional gift or promise, and finish with a letter for the eighth night. No photos needed.
